Proponents of the HCG diet believe a shot of HCG administered daily can help aid most individuals in reaching their weight loss goals. However, the shot alone cannot help you lose weight. You'll also have to commit to following a healthier lifestyle and a strict, low-calorie diet.
HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone produced during pregnancy that helps regulate the levels of progesterone needed for a healthy gestation. Additionally, it can trigger a woman's body to access her stores of fat as nutrients in the event her fetus is malnourished.
